The Department of World Languages and Cultures offers global experiences, international opportunities, and worldwide connections to Bearkats. Through our programs, students come to understand an increasingly interconnected world through language learning and deep cultural appreciation. Department faculty share expert knowledge and their multicultural and multilingual experiences with our students as they develop practical communication skills for the career of their choice. Our graduates use their cross-cultural language skills in professional settings around the world, applying their global perspective to jobs across all sectors We are home to language clubs and we sponsor a variety of exciting activities focused on linguistic and cultural expression. Our innovative study abroad programs are led by faculty members who guide students as they explore new places through immersive language-learning experiences.
